Last updated: 03.06.2026 Applies to: consumers resident in Norway
Welcome to Munibee. These terms explain, in plain language, what you can expect from us and what we expect from you. No traps, no surprises. If you’re wondering about anything, email us at hei@munibee.com and a real person will answer.
The short version
- Munibee gives you an overview and insight into your own finances. We are not a bank and never make payments for you.
- We never see, and can never store, your bank password. All bank sign-in happens with your bank.
- You own your own content. You can close your account any time.
- Munibee is decision support, not financial advice.
1. Who we are
These terms of service (the “Terms”) apply to your use of the app and services of Munibee AS, org.nr. 835 660 052 (“Munibee”, “we”, “us”). Munibee helps individuals and families with financial insight based on account and transaction data you choose to connect through PSD2/Open Banking.
By creating an account or using the service, you confirm that you have read and accepted the Terms. The current version is always available in the app and on our website.
2. Who can use Munibee
Age: You must be at least 18 years old. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet the age requirement.
3. Your account and security
Your account: You register with an email address and a mobile number, and choose a secure password. To connect bank data, you authenticate with your bank’s approved strong customer authentication (for example BankID in Norway).
You are responsible for keeping your Munibee login details secret, and for telling us without undue delay if you suspect that someone else has accessed your account.
Your bank password is safe: We will never, and can never, store your bank login credentials. All bank authentication happens through your bank’s own solutions in line with PSD2.
4. What Munibee offers
With Munibee you bring together your transactions from different banks and organise them into economies you control yourself. Among other things, you get:
- Bank retrieval via Open Banking: transactions stream straight in from the banks you connect, and you place them where they belong.
- Wallet: your private foundation. The wallet is 100% private and can never be shared. You decide which transactions you share further.
- Hives: a collection of transactions that make up one economy. You can have a personal hive (just for you) or shared hives together with others, where the members form one economic unit.
- Projects: a contained economy inside a hive, for example a holiday, a renovation or a shared contribution. Sharing is optional, and people you invite into a project only see the project’s transactions, not the rest of your economy.
- Overview and settlements: keep track of your finances at all times, make mutual settlements and plan ahead.
- Insight and alerts: spending statistics, patterns and trends, with the option to set up alerts and spending caps.
Munibee is a financial tool and decision support. It is not financial advice, investment advice, tax advice or any other regulated advice.
5. Connecting bank data (PSD2 via Enable Banking)
How it works: When you connect your bank, you are sent to a secure connection process provided by Enable Banking Oy (Finland, EU/EEA), a PSD2-based open banking provider. You give clear consent for Munibee, via Enable Banking, to retrieve information from exactly the accounts you choose. All strong customer authentication happens at your bank (for example BankID in Norway).
What data we retrieve: account information (account name, bank, account number, masked where possible), balance and available amount, and transactions (amount, date, description, category and similar). The details are in the Privacy Policy.
You decide: A PSD2 consent is valid only for a limited period (typically up to 90 days) and must be renewed. You can withdraw your consent and remove the bank connection in the app at any time. We then stop retrieving data from that bank. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing that has already taken place.
No payments: Munibee only retrieves account information to give you insight. We do not offer payment services and cannot move money on your behalf.
Your responsibility: You only connect accounts you own yourself or have a valid right to dispose over, provide correct information, and do not attempt to circumvent banks’ security solutions.
6. SMS, email and notifications
What we may send you:
- one-time codes and security messages
- important operational information (e.g. downtime or changes to the Terms)
- notifications you turn on yourself (spending caps, new transactions, reminders and similar).
SMS and email are sent through our provider Brevo (EU/France), which processes your phone number/email address, the time and delivery status, and the message itself (usually a short code or a notification) on our behalf. The data stays within the EU.
You control the notifications: You can turn off or adjust notifications in the app’s settings at any time. Note that some messages, such as security alerts, are necessary for the service and cannot be turned off as long as you use Munibee.
7. Newsletter and marketing
We only send you newsletters and marketing if you have said yes. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking “Unsubscribe” in the email, changing the settings in the app, or contacting us at hei@munibee.com.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not affect necessary messages about operations, security or terms.
8. Your content
Everything you enter in the app yourself is what we call “User Content”. That includes things like the names of your hives and projects, groupings, and the way you organise your transactions. Your User Content is yours, and you keep all rights to it.
So that we can deliver the service, you grant us a limited, royalty-free licence to store, display and process your User Content in Munibee. The licence is used only to run the service for you, lasts as long as you have an active account, and ends when you delete the content or your account. User Content you choose to share in a shared hive or project becomes visible to the other members there. Content in your Wallet and your personal hive always stays private. You confirm that you have the right to enter the content, and that it does not infringe others’ rights or break the law.
9. Improving the service
Your personal categorisation. Munibee learns from your own choices. When you correct or confirm a category, the service adapts to you, so that categorisation becomes more accurate over time. This learning is based only on your own data and is used only to improve your own experience.
Optional sharing that helps everyone (you choose). You can choose to contribute anonymous, aggregated statistics that help us make Munibee better for everyone, for example how common payment places are typically categorised. This only happens if you actively turn it on, it never contains information that can be linked to you, and you can turn it off again at any time.
Troubleshooting. To detect and fix errors, we store technical error logs in our own operating environment in the EU. The logs contain neither your IP address, email nor the content of your requests, only anonymous reference IDs, and are deleted automatically after a limited period (typically up to 90 days).
No tracking, no selling. We run no third-party analytics or tracking tools, and we never sell your data.
10. Sub-processors
To deliver the service in a safe and stable way, we use a few selected partners. Each processes data on our behalf under a data-processing agreement, and all are based in the EU/EEA:
| Partner | Helps us with | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Enable Banking Oy | Secure bank connection (PSD2) | Finland 🇫🇮 |
| Scaleway | Hosting, database and secure storage | Netherlands 🇳🇱 (French company) |
| Brevo | Sending email and SMS | France 🇫🇷 |
An up-to-date overview is always available in the Privacy Policy. The service may also link to third parties (e.g. the banks’ own interfaces), where their own terms may apply in addition.
11. Acceptable use
You undertake to use Munibee in line with the Terms, the law and good practice. You must not:
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, other users’ data or our systems
- copy, modify, decompile or extract source code beyond what the law expressly permits
- use the service for illegal purposes (e.g. money laundering, fraud or tax evasion)
- enter content that is illegal, threatening, discriminatory or offensive.
In the event of a material breach, we may temporarily suspend or terminate your access, cf. section 14.
12. Our rights to the service
All intellectual property rights to Munibee, such as software, design, name, logo and content we have created, belong to Munibee or our licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the service on your own devices, for personal, non-commercial use.
13. Availability and changes
We work for high availability, but the service is provided “as is”, without a guarantee of completely uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may update, change or remove features and carry out maintenance. If we make material changes to the core of the service, we will notify you in an appropriate way (in the app or by email).
14. Termination and deletion
You can close your account at any time by deleting it in the app, or by contacting us at privacy@munibee.com. On termination, we delete or anonymise your personal data in line with the Privacy Policy and the law. In shared hives and projects you have taken part in, the other members can still see the date, title and amount of the transactions you entered there, but you are anonymised so that the content can no longer be linked to you.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach the Terms or the law, if we have reasonable grounds to suspect misuse or fraud, or if we discontinue the service. Unless the law or security considerations dictate otherwise, we will notify you in reasonable time before a permanent termination.
15. Limitation of liability
Munibee is a tool for financial insight, not a bank or financial adviser. Analyses, insights and planning suggestions in the service are guidance only and may be wrong or incomplete, partly because they rely in part on data from banks and other third parties.
Your decisions are your own. Munibee gives you overview and insight, but does not make financial decisions for you. You are responsible for the choices you make, for example purchases, saving, investments or other dispositions, including when they are based on information in the service. As far as the law permits, we are not liable for the consequences of such choices.
As far as permitted by mandatory Norwegian law, we are also not liable for indirect loss, consequential damage or lost profit, or for errors caused by:
- errors or interruptions in the banks’ or Enable Banking’s APIs
- technical problems at Scaleway or other sub-processors
- circumstances on your side (device, network or incorrect use of the service).
Your rights still stand. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under Norwegian law, or our liability if we should act with gross negligence.
16. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms when needed, for example when the service or the legislation changes (PSD2, GDPR, digitalytelsesloven).
For material changes, we notify you at least 30 days before they take effect, and we ask you to actively accept the new terms in the app before you continue. If you do not wish to accept, you can close the service at any time.
Minor changes, for example wording adjustments or changes we are required to make by law, can take effect after we have notified you.
If a change means we will process your personal data in a new way, we obtain a separate, explicit consent for exactly that. It is never part of accepting the terms.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Norwegian law. If you live in another country, you still always keep the mandatory consumer protection you have under the law where you live. A Norwegian choice of law never takes those rights away from you.
We always try to resolve disagreements amicably first, so please feel free to contact us at hei@munibee.com.
If we cannot agree, you as a consumer can:
- bring the matter to the out-of-court complaints body for consumer cases in the country where you live, and/or
- take the matter to the courts where you live.
If it concerns a cross-border case within the EEA, you can get free help from your national European Consumer Centre (ECC-Net).
If you live in Norway, you can contact Forbrukertilsynet / Forbrukerklageutvalget (the Norwegian Consumer Authority / Consumer Complaints Committee), and the legal venue is your home venue or Oslo District Court, at your choice.
